It’s Jesus’ birthday on 25th December. The Christmas week is going on. Grand celebration is going to occur. Before that, the pre-Christmas celebration is dropping our jaws. Coming down to the street, market, malls or shops serves the most hypnotic scenes. We can’t get off the temptation of admiring those eye-catching decorations.   • Bible doesn’t mention exact date of Jesus’ birth: Christian’s scripture ‘Bible’ is worldwide famous evidence of Jesus’ sayings. But it does not read any date of Jesus Christ’s birth. However, he was born in Bethleham in Judea. But his birthdate was unknown till three centuries of Christianity’s rise.   
  • When 25th Dec. became official holiday:It was 336 A.D. according to an early Roman calendar when 25th December was deemed as an official date of Christ’s birth. Roman saints and astrologers had conflicts over it. But eventually, they wanted to celebrate it with the prevalent pagan festivals, when Saturn and Mithra are honoured in Rome. So, they accepted Christianity as its national religion. By the arrival of 8th century, Christianity spread across the Europe.
  • Wild parties banned it:  Since Christmas coincided with the pagan fests, people mobbed in the thrown wild party. Consequently, the celebration was halted. The puritans of colonial America stood against that wild celebration. This glitch came in spotlight in 1644. The legislators of Massachusett levied penalty of 5 shillings upon the observers. This ban continued till 1800s.
  • Prince Albert kick-started it in UK:The festival made its comeback with the wedding of Prince Albert of Germany to Queen Victoria. He decorated the evergreen tree on this occasion. At the very same period, this tradition reached to America.    
  • Christmas tree on Christmas card:In 1848, the king published a Christmas card in which a decorated Christmas tree was printed. In addition, the prince of England was pictured along with his family on the card in 1845.
  • Saint Nicholas of Myra-the Santa:Celebration is incomplete without gifts. Saint Nicholas of Myra exaggerated the fun during this fest by sending gifts to children. Many other saints followed his footsteps and gifted.
  • Colourful history of Santa:Earlier, Santa used to clad colourful cloths. But later on with the inception of renaissance in 1920 and advertisement, our dear Santa Claus got his signature dress. It happened due to a commercial ad of Coca Cola in 1930. Santa appeared endorsing this cold drink in red and white dress.
